JAMMU, May 5: Scores of retired personnel of J&K Police, Auxiliary Police and Fire Brigade today staged a protest demonstration near Press Club, Jammu regarding their pay anomaly.
The protest was held under the aegis of All J&K Retired Police, NGO & Others’ Welfare Forum. Led by Ajit Singh (Chairman, Non Gazetted Police Pensioners’ Welfare Forum), the protesting retirees raised slogans against the Government for ignoring their long pending demand regarding pay anomalies.
Addressing the protestors, Ajit Singh said that Government is giving the effect of its Order No 229-F of 2014 dated 7-10-2014 regarding pay anomaly, from the date of order though the effect should be given from the year 1996 when fifth Pay Commission was implemented throughout the State leaving only police department.
Singh also reiterated other demands of the Forum which include 10 % quota for wards of police personnel in recruitment in police department and professional courses, besides enhancement of medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000. He criticized the Government and the Police Department for ignoring the just and genuine demand of the poor police pensioners.
Referring to the two different orders/circulars issued by the Government in the year 2017 and 2018, he said the concerned SHOs were directed through these circulars to attend grievances of the retired police personnel living in their jurisdictions but the present SHOs are ignoring these orders/circulars.
