JAMMU, Sept 5: Scores of retired personnel of J&K Police staged a protest demonstration near Hari Singh Park, Jammu regarding their pay anomaly.
The protest was held under the aegis of Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum. Led by Ajit Singh (chairman, Non Gazetted Police Pensioners’ Welfare Forum), the protesting retirees raised slogans against the Government for ignoring their long pending demand regarding pay anomalies.
Addressing the protestors, Ajit Singh said that Government is giving the effect of its Order No 229-F of 2014 dated 7-10-2014 regarding pay anomaly, from the date of order though the effect should be given from the year 1996 when fifth Pay Commission was implemented throughout the State leaving only Police Department.
Singh also reiterated other demands of the Forum which include 10 % quota for wards of police personnel in recruitment of police department and professional courses, besides medical facilities on the lines of paramilitary forces as J&K Police now comes under Union Home Ministry. He criticized the Government and the Police Department for ignoring the just and genuine demand of the poor police pensioners.
Stating that despite guidelines in place for starting the process of completion of pension papers well in advance before the retirement of police personnel, same is not being followed strictly by the authorities concerned. He, therefore, urged upon the Government to issue a circular, directing the authorities concerned to process the pension papers of the retiring officials within a specified time frame, well in advance before the retirement.
