JAMMU, Nov 5: Retired employees of J&K Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) held protest dharna, demanding release of their COLA, DA and 6th Pay Commission arrears at Maharaja Hari Singh Park near Tawi bank here today,
Led by Ramesh Singh Bhau, president, All J&K RTC Retired Employees Union (J&K UT), the members of the organization assembled at Maharaja Hari Singh Park at around 11 am today and held protest demonstration, followed by dharna. They were carrying banner and placards in their hands, depicting retired employees’ demands.
They also raised slogans against the JKRTC Management, Transport and Finance departments for not releasing their Dearness Allowance, Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) and 6th Pay Commission arrears.
While addressing the gathering, Ramesh Singh Bhau said that the bills of the arrears reported to have been prepared by the JKRTC officials concerned and forwarded to the administrative department (Tranport department), but it is said that the bills are lying with the Finance department and are not being cleared. He condemned the anti-employee behaviour of the Transport department for causing delay.
Bhau also condemned the Finance Department for not clearing the pending bills of the retired JKRTC employees. He sought the intervention of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Transport Minister Satish Sharma and Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo into the matter.
Prominent among others who accompanied included-Allah Rakha, Gopal Choudhary, Rajinder Sawhney, Ram Paul, Krishan Singh and others.
