JAMMU, May 29: Voluntarily retired employees of  State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) held a protest demonstration against the Government  near Press Club here today.
A large number of VRS accorded SRTC workers under the banner of All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retirement Employ-ees Association, led by its president Dev Raj Bali assembled at the Exhibition Ground near Press Club here in the morning and started protest demonstration. They were raising slogans in support of their demands.
Addressing the gathering, Association president Dev Raj Bali and general secretary Surinder Singh strongly criticized the State Government for an order No. 103-F dated 10-4-2013, issued  by Finance department in which it has been stated that the already settled VRS cases will not be entertained at any cost.  They said over 700 VRS workers of the Corporation are unable to understand what sort of settlement cases the concerned `bureaucrats’ are projecting. These workers have been cheated by the Government which is issuing such unjustified and anti-worker orders just to deny them their hard earned money.
They pointed out that VRS accorded workers are struggling for the last three years now. They held protests, dharnas and took out rallies for their legitimate dues but the SRTC management, State Transport and Finance departments are only played games with the employees and continue to deny them their dues.  They alleged that VRS given workers have been denied 126 slabs  of  COLA, benefits of  6th Pay Commission, leave salary, ex-gratia-gratuity etc.  They sought the  intervention of Chief Minister in this regard.
