Retd SRTC workers hold protest demonstration

JAMMU, June 24: Volunteer retirement given employees of  the J&K State Road Transport  Corporation held strong protest demonstration in support of their pending demands at Exhibition Ground near Press Club here today.
A large number of  voluntarily retirement accorded employees of the Transport Corporation led by Dev Raj Bali, president All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retirement Employees Assoc-iation assembled near Press Club here around 10.30 am and sat on protest dharna. They were shouting slogans in support of their demands.
Surinder Singh, general secretary while addressing the gathering strongly criticized the management of  the SRTC and Finance Department for not releasing the pending arrears/ dues of the VRS/GHS and normally retired employees of the J&K State Road Transport Corporation. He said that these employees struggling have been struggling for the last over three years now for their dues but the Management has given a deaf ear towards their plight.
Mr Bali demanded immediately release of 126 slabs of COLA and pending arrears with effect from Ist January 2006 and pending arrears since 1999 along with leave salary, gratuity and ex-gratia grants, 6th Pay Commission benefits and interest money worth Rs 8.41 lakh on CP Fund amount. He said that genuine issues of the retired SRTC workers be resolved without any delay. He sought the intervention of Transport Minister in this regard.
