DODA, Dec 13: A retired Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO) of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department and his wife were today killed in a road accident here.
TSO Mangat Ram (62) resident of Chilly, Tehsil Gandoh and his wife were travelling in a car of Alto make from Chilly to Jammu and the mishap took place at Jathi village on Kishtwar-Batote highway near Assar in Doda district.
The ill fated car bearing registration number JK02CN 5892 rolled down into a gorge near Jathi.After getting information, police rushed to the spot and started rescue operation with the help of locals.
Shakuntla, wife of the TSO died on the spot but the TSO, in critical condition, was shifted to PHC Assar and later to GMC Doda but he collapsed en-route.
A case in this regard has been registered at Police Station Assar and investigation started.
