JAMMU, Feb 8: A retired Army official was killed in a road accident here at Thati Village near Akhnoor on Wednesday, police said.
They said Lt Colonel (retired) Nasib Singh son of Gandharv Singh of Dhar Darochan Gharota at present Thati was travelling in his SUV (JK20BE-8014) towards Akhnoor when it collided with a truck (RJ07GD 9231) on the NH 144A, resulting in injuries to the retired army official.
He was taken to a nearby military hospital where doctors declared him as dead on arrival, police further said.
Later, the body of the deceased was shifted to Sub District Hospital Akhnoor for conducting the post-mortem after completing the legal formalities.
SHO Gharota Joginder Singh told the Excelsior, “the body of the deceased has been handed over to his family members after completing the legal formalities while a case under relevant sections of the law has been registered and further investigations taken up.”
