SRINAGAR, Oct 18: Over a dozen retired police officers are yet to receive benefits of the Non-Functional (Monetary) Scheme (NFS) and Selection Grade after the Account General’s office raised queries and Home Department is yet to sort it out for the last over a year.
The AG’s office has raised some queries against at least 15 retired police officers saying that these officers are not entitled to the NFS and the SG. However, as per these officers hundreds of other similarly placed officers were given the same benefit and no queries were raised in their cases.
The Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police in February, May, August and October last year sent several cases to the Home Department, seeking for necessary clarification on the queries raised by the AG’s office but so far there has been no repose from the department.
The query in one such case reads: “vide Govt. order No.272-Home of 2022 dated 08.08.2022 Selection Grade in Level-10A of Pay Matrix has been released in favour of the above said retired officer retrospectively w.e.f. 07.09.2016 and vide Govt. order No. 191 Home of 2022 dated 25.06.2022 the officer has been placed in time sale (NFS) in level-11 in Pay matrix to which he was no more entitled. However, he will be eligible for release of Time Scale of Level-11 after completion of five years’ service in Selection Grade of Level-10A in terms of Para(c) of Government order No.653-Home of 2017 dated 07.06.2017.”
These officers urged the Home Department to sort out their cases so that they too get the benefit which was given to other officers of the department.
