Retired police personnel highlight demands

POONCH, June 15: The district body of Retired Police Personnel Welfare League (RPPWL) today held a meeting under the chairmanship of district president, Surjit Singh Sudan, to highlight their demands.
The meeting was attended by a large number of retired police personnel from Mandi, Loran and Poonch. The speakers said that they have spent their life to serve the general masses and now by virtue of their age they remain ailing for one and other reasons and cannot afford day today medicine expenses, so at least 10 beds be allotted for them at Police Hospital in Jammu and Srinagar.
They also demanded that if any retired police personnel is referred from Poonch to Jammu, the ambulance be provided from DPL to Jammu free of cost and the fuel be provided from Police Welfare Fund. They further demanded that police band and a bus be provided from DPL Poonch to solemnize marriage of the kin of the police personnel and conveyance of Barat, respectively.
During the meeting, the speakers raised the demand of one rank one pension for the retired police personnel on the lines of army. They also stressed upon the Government to give 15% reservation quota in the police recruitment to the wards of police personnel, financial assistance of Rs 25000 to retired police personnel from Police Welfare Funds at the time of marriage of their daughters, enhancement of medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month.
