Jammu, Aug 4: The Retirees Police League District Jammu convened its monthly meeting today under the leadership of Karanjit Singh, DySP (Retd), and President of the Retirees Police League District Jammu.
The meeting began with a solemn two-minute silence in honour of the brave defence personnel who recently lost their lives in service to the country.
As the meeting began, discussions focused on several key issues affecting retired police personnel, including inconsistencies in pension payments for officers of the same rank, the need for tribute and a Guard of Honour at the funerals of deceased ex-police personnel, and job reservations for the children of retired officers in various Government sectors, particularly in police and defence forces.
The members also called for increased welfare support, including financial assistance during illness and coverage of cremation expenses.
Additionally, they advocated for new medical schemes to cover all retired personnel, not just those who retired on or after October 2019.
The league expressed gratitude to SSP Poonch for honouring ASI Manohar Lal with a Guard of Honour, as directed by DGP RR Swain, and urged other SSPs to follow this precedent.
The meeting was attended by a significant number of retired police officers, including SSPs Suresh Kumar, Prabhdyal Sharma, SPs Som Raj Datt, BL Kaul, DSPs Kuldip Raj, Kamal Sharma, Shamsher Parihar, JS Chib, Inspectors Mohammad Sadiq, Parshotam Bali, Mohan Singh, Yoginder Singh, Jawahar Lal Dhar, Vice-President Mohammad Sadiq, and SIs Satpal Singh, Charan Singh, Devinder Singh, Balwinder Kumar, Manohar Lal, Satpal and Cashier Ghulam Nabi.
The meeting concluded with a vegetarian lunch for all attendees.
The Police League extended its thanks to the police administration for their logistical support in organizing the event.
