ReTs meet Education Minister, seek delinking of SSA salary

JAMMU, May 6: A deputation of J&K ReT Teachers’ Forum, led by State president Vinod Sharma today called on Education Minister Choudhary Zulfkar Ali at his official residence in Jammu and held a threadbare discussion on the burning issue of SSA salary.
Vinod Sharma sought streamlining of the SSA salary by delinking it from the source of funding and bringing the posts under State plan as there is also a huge pendency of arrears of ReTs regularised since 2014 onwards due to their late regularisation.
He also sought implementation of High Court order regarding transfer of regularized ReTs and also as promised by  then Education Minister on the floor of the House.
He also sought the regularisation of Education Volunteers and ReTs whose files are lying in the Directorates of School Education for a long time.
The Minister said that he feels the pain of the ReTs, especially SSA teachers as salary is their right and he will try his level best to get the permanent solution of this chronic issue. He assured to personally intervene to resolve all the issues of teachers, especially ReTs who are playing a key role in the education of far flung areas and solution of SSA salary will be his priority.
The delegation comprised of Sukhdev Singh Sumbria, Gulzubair Daing, Mahesh Kumar, Surjeet Singh, Ravinder Singh, Manzoor Khan, Pankaj Verma, Balwan Singh, Subash Chander and others.
Meanwhile, a monthly meeting of J&K ReT Teachers’ Forum was also held at Udhampur today under the leadership of district president Lekh Raj Parihar. The meeting was attended by the executive members of the Forum from all the eleven zones of the district, who expressed grave concerns over the failure of the department to pay monthly salary to the SSA teachers
“If this problem is not resolved at earliest, SSA teachers will be forced to come on roads and for this step Government would be solely responsible,” said Lekh Raj Parihar. He also appealed the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Finance Minister Altaf Bukhari and Education Minister to personally intervene in this matter so that thousands of SSA teachers of the State may not suffer anymore.
