UDHAMPUR, May 24: Jammu and Kashmir ReT Teachers Forum, unit Udhampur, today held Zonal and Tehsil level protests in favour of delinking of SSA salary of more than 41 thousands teachers from the source of funding.
In Ramnagar, hundreds of ReTs assembled at Rani Park Ramnagar under the leadership of Forum’s senior vice chairman Bhupinder Singh and then marched towards SDM office Ramnagar in the shape of rally. They submitted a memorandum to SDM Ramnagar on the name of higher authority.
While addressing the gathering of ReTs in front of SDM office Ramnagar, Bhupinder Singh criticized the State Government for not de-linking the salaries of SSA teachers with the Central source.
Singh said that former Finance Minister of present Government had assured then and announced on the floor of the House to link the salaries of SSA teachers with State budget but no action was taken in this regard till date with the result that thousands of ReTs are without salary from last two to three months.
Provincial chief coordinator Pritam Dhimaan also spoke on the occasion.
In Zone Panchari, protest was led by Zonal president Surinder Khajuria and district president Udhampur Kuldeep Katoach while hundreds of ReTs participated in the protest.
Kuldeep Katoch addressed the protesters and lambasted the State Government for not paying due attentions to the genuine issues of teaching community, particularly the issues of SSA teachers.
Surinder Khajuria appealed the teachers to support calender of the Forum.
Zonal president Chenani, Surjeet Singh led the protest in Chenani and warned the State Government that if their salaries was not delinked, they would lock schools and come on roads with their families.
Similarly Sachin Sharma led the protest in Udhampur Zone and Charan Singh at Dudu zone.
