LEH, Jan 30: The newly formed All Ladakh Teacher Association headed by its president Dorjey Namgial and “Rehbar-e-Taleem’ Forum” today organized a peaceful rally from Girls Higher Secondary School Leh to Council Secretariat LAHDC, Leh against the screening test of ReTs. They handed over a memorandum to CEC, LAHDC, Leh requesting his intervention in this matter, so as to avoid demoralization of ReTs teachers.
The memorandum reads about the recent order regarding screen test of ReT’s, which is going to demoralize the teaching capability of the said teachers. As such the district Rehbar-e-taleem’ forum strongly opposes the screening test unless the govt. clear the ambiguity. As per the High Courts direction, the screening test of ReTs should be conducted to those who have obtained their degrees through suspicious institution. However, the orders issued to introduction of screening test of all the distance mode degree holders and it seems to be questioning the credibility of all the UGC recognized universities which is a deliberate attempt to play with the dignity, honor and sentiments of the thousands of ReT teacher all across the state”, the memorandum says.
“Moreover, the contribution of ReT’s can be seen from the fact that many schools in the district are run by ReTs only. Now if their services are affected after spending all the valuable period their families will be going to suffer immensely. And that if the said test is conducted to filter the capable teachers/ employees then it should be extend to every serving department under state govt. so that only capable employees be left to serve”, said leaders of the protesting ReTs
