JAMMU, Apr 11: After locking out their schools on April 10, 11, Rehbar-e-Talim Teachers have announced to hoist black flags on their school buildings on April 17, for registering their protest against unprecedented delay in release of SSA salary.
“On April 17, the ReTs will wear black armbands besides hoisting black flags while on April 19, a massive protest march will be taken out from Press Enclave Srinagar to the office of Director School Education, Kashmir via Lal Chowk Srinagar,” said Nenu Lata, State convener of the Jammu Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum, while addressing a press conference, here today.
Highlighting the plights of ReTs, who are virtually at the verge of starvation because of no salaries for the last several months, she lambasted the State Government and Education Minister, who had assured to release their salary by April.
“On the Education Minister’s assurance, we have announced to postpone out schedule strike but the salary was not released,” she said and added that the aggrieved ReTs have no option other than to adopt agitational path.
Jahangir Alam Khan, general secretary of the Forum, said that 41 thousand RRET Teachers of the State are without salary for the last six months but the Government is still delaying release of SSA salary funds.
He demanded streamlining of their salary by delinking it from Centre, regularization of EVs and those ReTs who have degrees through UGC recognized Distance mode universities, transfer policy, etc.
Others, who were present in the press conference, included Shiv Dev Singh, Rajesh Pal, Bahadur Singh and Mohan Singh.
