JAMMU, Nov 8: JKPCC general secretary and DDC Member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony today said that rampant corruption has become the hallmark of incumbent Government giving a tough time to the common man.
The senior Congress leader was addressing a meeting of the Party cadre organized by Ramesh Khajuria at Santokh Vihar, Kalu Chak in Jammu. Choudhary Hussain Ali Waffa (chairman, Congress SC Cell), youth leader Mandeep Choudhary, Rakesh Kundal and others also attended the meeting.
Tony said that the Revenue Department is worst hit by the illegal gratification culture alleging that anything and everything is possible in this department by greasing the palms of the corrupt officials, who are in abundance in this specific department although the situation in other departments is also not much promising because corruption is deep rooted.
He urged LG Manoj Sinha to take substantial action and do the needful to end the graft culture as the common man is finding it difficult to cope up with this scourge of society. He said rhetoric against corruption will not change the situation as there is need to work on ground because under the present dispensation, the corruption has thrived contrary to what has been publicized about this evil of society.
The senior Congress leader also urged the Centre not to check the patience of the people of J&K and announce elections as popular Government is the right of the people and denying this right will cost dearly to the party in power at the union level.
Condemning the arrest of Choudhary Lal Singh, Tony said that action by the Enforcement Directorate is testimony to the fact that the agency is working under immense pressure losing its sovereign trait shoddily. He said that sending Lal Singh to jail is nothing but an attempt to muzzle the voice of J&K, which will be taken up very seriously by the people especially Dogras as the entities behind this act have hit them below the belt.
