Revenue employees on strike

RAJOURI, Sept 12: Revenue employees of Kalakote are on strike for the last four days in protest against the alleged manhandling of Tehsildar by some villagers at Mogla mine site.
These agitating employees who are on strike since Monday are demanding action against the people who attacked Tehsildar Abdul Majid and SHO Kalakote and Incharge Police Post Taryath who failed to protect the Magistrate despite being on the spot. They have struck their work and continued their protest since last Monday while the public of the area is suffering.
Reports said the problem took place after a mine worker died in an accident at Mogla. The workers started protest along with dead body of the worker. They were demanding that MD of the JK Minerals Ltd should visit the site and only after it they will lift dharna. With the intervention of DC Rajouri, Tehsildar Kalakote went to the spot. When he reached there, some people including women allegedly manhandled the Ist Class Magistrate and locked him in a room. Later, some of the locals convinced agitating people that he was not MD but Tehsildar. Thereafter, police also intervened and rescued the Tehsildar.
After coming to know about the incident, Revenue staff at the Tehsil headquarter and Niabat Taryath went on strike. They are seeking action against the police officers and arrest of those involved in attack on Tehsildar.
