Revenue official caught red handed accepting bribe

SRINAGAR, Jan 19: A Revenue official in Tehsil Office Qanoongo was caught red handed by the Vigilance sleuths while accepting bribe.
The accused has been identified as Syed Jalal-ud-Din Bukhari of Midoora Tral, who was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2000 from the complainant for countersigning some documents.
The trap was laid following a written complaint by Haji Nazir Ahmad Lone of Kadalabal Pampore who alleged that the said official was demanding a bribe for countersigning Naqshai Intikhab, issued by Patwari concerned after he moved an application to Tehsildar Pampore for registration of land measuring one kanal under survet No. 211 in favour of Shazia Ashraf of Nawakadal Srinagar.
The trap team was headed by Inspector Abdul Rashid Khan and assisted by staff members.  Further investigation into the case is in progress.
