Srinagar, Mar 20: An anti-encroachment team was today assaulted at Baharabad village of Hajin in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district during which an orderly of the Tehsildar was injured while the Naib Tehsildar was also manhandled.
The situation turned ugly when the anti-encroachment team headed by concerned Tehsildar approached the spot at Baharabad to cut down trees on a patch of land illegally occupied by a family living in the area.
As that happened, the two sides, the anti-encroachment team and a family which later assaulted the officials entered into a heated argument.
The officials in the area said that a visiting team was manhandled and an orderly was injured during an assault by the family members of Ghulam Muhammad Kaul.
Officials said that twice a week the concerned teams visit places that are illegally occupied by the residents and the said drive was a part of that.
They said that the family members also manhandled Naib-Tehsildar Mohammad Sultan and that it due to the timely intervention of the locals that the scene did not turn ugly.
Police have registered a case in this regard under FIR number 26/2021 under relevant sections and further investigation has been initiated.
