Revisit Master Plan of Bhawan area to enlarge facilities: Vohra

JAMMU, Apr 19 : N. N. Vohra, Governor, this morning paid obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi on the auspicious occasion of Ramnavmi.
The Governor and Usha Vohra, First Lady, had darshan of the Sanctum Sanctorum and the Governor prayed for peace, harmony, progress and prosperity in the State.
The Governor, accompanied by H. L. Maini, Member of the Shrine Board and Hony Technical Consultant to the Board; Navin K. Choudhary, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board; Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari, Additional Chief Executive Officer, and other officers of the Board, reviewed the various development works under execution and discussed measures for further development of the shrine area to provide improved and larger facilities to the visiting pilgrims.
With a view to enlarging infrastructural and other facilities, particularly to meet the growing shortage of lockers, the Governor asked for revisiting the Master Plan of the Bhawan area for some of the old structures being replaced by new buildings having the best possible facilities to meet future requirements of progressively increasing pilgrimage. He observed that to meet the emerging requirements of the pilgrims a long-term perspective plan has to be evolved and the facilities expanded, upgraded and modernized as per emerging requirements.
While inspecting the dispensary at Bhawan, the Governor issued instructions for establishing a laboratory and an X-ray plant to facilitate the management of medical emergencies.
During inspection of the under-construction Parvati Bhawan, the Governor was briefed that this complex will be completed within one month.
The Governor emphasized the need for flowering shrubs and creepers being planted along the tracks to improve the aesthetics and ambience of the Yatra routes and adding colour to them.
Referring to the need for enlarging facilities for the pilgrims at Adhkuwari, the Governor emphasized the need for preparing a DPR for Adhkuwari to bring about continuing improvements in the infrastructural facilities and logistics. He asked for relaying of electric wires so that the entire area gives a better look. He asked the CEO to explore the possibility of setting up a modern laundry at Adhkuwari for washing of bed linen and blankets provided to the pilgrims.
Taking stock of the ongoing work on construction of an Emergency Helipad near Panchi View Point, the Governor urged for further speeding up execution of this vital facility for ensuring its expeditious completion.
Mr Vohra also visited Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Spiritual Growth Centre and reviewed the various facilities created at this Centre by the Shrine Board.
He also visited the Human Resource Development Centre, Conference Room, Auditorium and Amphitheatre.
During his visit to the Library-cum-Research Centre, the Governor was briefed by Navin K. Choudhary, about the initiatives which are being taken by this Centre for the collection and preservation of rare manuscripts. The Governor while reviewing the functioning of the various sections of the Centre emphasized the high importance of taking all the required measures for preserving these valuable manuscripts of great historical importance, particularly for use by research scholars.
Usha Vohra, First Lady, was accompanying the Governor. S. M. Sahni, Director, Spiritual Growth Centre, Katra, and Mohan Lal, Additional SP, Katra, were present on the occasion.
