Revoke cases of soldiers: DSS

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Feb 21: Col. (retd) J P Singh, chairman of Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan, Ex-Servicemen Cell today said that terrorist Adil Dar, the Kashmiri fellow, who rammed his explosive laden car into CRPF bus at Letipura, killing 44 CRPF brave hearts was detained six times between September 2016 and March 2018 but was not charged and prosecuted any time.
In a statement issued here today he said while the terrorists are let free, the soldiers are put to trial indiscriminately despite Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) providing immunity from prosecution.
He demanded that this practice being ignominious, be revoked forthwith. Col. Singh said that sometimes, to tie down the hands of security forces, FIRs are filed against the entire sub-unit carrying out the operations. This practice must be banned. Nothing could be more ignominious for a nation when soldiers are sanctified as criminals in J&K and militants are sanctified as victim and the TPR crazy media further sanctifies it by airing it repeatedly, demoralizing the soldiers;, he stated.
Something seems to have terribly gone wrong in J&K since the recent past. To set things right, Col Singh appealed the Governor to revoke all FIRs and pending court cases against soldiers. By doing so your gracious self will be able to walk the talk so often heard in support of SFs is the expectation of the ex-servicemen. When the entire political leadership and the nation is standing with the shattered families of the martyrs, the State Government must walk the talk. Stating that if there is an FIR or a court case against any martyr of Pulwama carnage, summons will keep coming to the shattered families which will add salt to their wounds, the wounds which are perpetrated by the very State they are defending. Such perfidy needs to be stopped once and for all.
Recalling how in 2014, when a car violated various Nakkas, it was fired upon resulting into two deaths and prosecution of a JCO incharge Nakka and the sentry who fired. Army Commander apologized publically for this incident after which checking and frisking were stopped. Thereafter vehicles were not stopped entering military convoys. Pulwama incident is the fallout of such anti forces practices. FIR against Maj Gogoi was not withdrawn despite Defense Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman’s personal request to Mehbooba Mufti are the stark realities of fighting militancy in the Valley. Col Singh assured the security forces that ex-servicemen fraternity lauds their resolve to end militancy from J&K despite odds.
