Rich tributes paid to Maharaja Hari Singh on his 124th birthday

JAMMU, Sept 22: Various educational institutions in Jammu paid rich tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh on his 124th Birth Anniversary, here today.
Dogra College of Education organized a symposium to commemorate achievements of Maharaja Hari Singh, the last ruler of the Jammu and Kashmir and to mark 124th Birth Anniversary.
The programme started with the lighting of traditional lamp by the dignitaries followed by the welcome address by Divya Manhas student of Semester III.
Floral tributes were also paid to Maharaja Hari Singh.
Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister and President Dogra Sadar Sabha and Chairman Dogra Educational Trust in his address highlighted the contributions of Maharaja Hari Singh. He said that Maharaja Hari Singh will always be remembered as a great social reformer, modernist and lover of equality and justice. He made great efforts to develop infrastructure and to increase the literacy rate of the state. Kr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary Dogra Educational Trust, Dr. Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Principal Dogra College of Education were also present on the occasion.
Students presented their paper and power point presentations were made on the subject. 16 students from the Dogra College of Education, Dogra Law College and Dogra Degree College participated in this event.
Vote of thanks was presented by Komal Mehra, student of semester III of Dogra College of Education.
Delhi Public School Jammu (A unit of Rajput Charitable Trust), organised an impressive function to celebrate his birthday. MLA (Jammu East), Rajesh Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion.
The celebrations commenced with the sacred garlanding and floral tributes ceremony at the magnificent statue of Maharaja Hari Singh ji at DPS Jammu, which was followed by a patriotic Dogri group song presented by the school choir.
Rich Harvest School, Bari Brahmana celebrated 124th birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji with pomp and show today. On the occasion, Principal of the school Anita Bhatia lighted the ceremonial lamp and garlanded the portrait of Maharaja Hari Singh ji. She threw light on the contribution of Maharaja Hari Singh ji for his state, describing him as the most visionary ruler of the state.
Delhi Public School Nagbani, Jammu – (West) celebrated Maharaja Hari Singh ji’s birthday with great fervour and enthusiasm in the school premises today.
The celebrations started with paying of floral tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh ji by the Principal of the School, RK Verma followed by the teaching and non teaching staff members present on the occasion. The programme began with the presentation of Dogri song sung by the school staff followed by speeches which were given by them depicting the early life, reign, family history, honours and reforms introduced by the Maharaja.
While addressing the gathering, the Principal of the school said that Maharaja Hari Singh was a great visionary, true patriot, progressive thinker and social reformer who brought many social reforms for the welfare of the general public.
Delhi Public School, SMVDU-Katra celebrated Maharaja Hari Singh ji’s birth anniversary with fervour and gusto in the school premises here today.
All the students and staff assembled for paying floral tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh ji at the assembly ground. The function started with the prayers and songs on Maharaja Hari Singh ji depicting his achievements. A self composed Dogri song was presented by the music department of the school.
Officiating Principal of the school Vandana Sharma in her address highlighted the achievements of the last ruler of Dogra dynasty Maharaja Hari Singh ji. In the end, sweets were distributed among the students and the staff of the school.
