JAMMU, Dec 6: On his 64th death anniversary, rich tributes were paid today to Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar by various political and social organizations across Jammu and Kashmir.
J&K Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) unit paid tributes to Dr BR Ambedkar in a function held at party head office in Jammu. Describing the life history of Dr Ambedkar, Somraj Majotra (president, J&K unit) said that Baba Sahib sacrificed his whole life to fight for the legitimate rights of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, OBCs, women and other minorities in India. On the occasion, all the workers pledged to follow the path shown by Dr Ambedkar and strengthen the BSP in J&K.
In a separate function, BSP J&K vice-president Charanjeet Chargotra and hundreds of party workers paid rich tributes to Dr Ambedkar. Speakers threw light on the life history of Ambedkar, who is known as a great social reformer and architect of Indian Constitution. Charanjeet Chargotra, while speaking on the occasion said that stability and growth of our democracy is a gift of Dr Ambedkar.
A function to pay tributes to Dr Ambedkar was held at National Conference party headquarter at Sher-i-Kashmir Bhawan, Jammu. Senior party leaders including state secretary Rattan Lal Gupta paid growing tribute to Dr Ambedkhar. Speaking on the occasion, he recalled Dr Ambedkar’s contribution in uplifting weaker section of society. The gathering was also addressed by provincial secretary Sheikh Bashir Ahmed SC co-chairman Vijay Lochan.
Rich tributes were paid to the architect of Indian Constitution Dr B R Ambedkar at Talab Tillo by BJP Talab Tillo Mandal, which observed the death anniversary of Dr Ambedkar as “Mahaparinirvana Diwas”. Mandal president Keshav Chopra led the BJP workers and several other people to pay rich tributes to Dr Ambedkar. Keshav Chopra exhorted the people to follow the teachings of Dr Ambedkar, a great social reformer and leader of depressed classes.
All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations and its wing NSYF, DOM observed the Mahaparinirvan Diwas of Dr BR Ambedkar at Ambedkar Chowk, Jammu. RK Kalsotra, J&K president of the Confederation and other leaders paid rich tributes to Dr Ambedkar and took oath to safeguard the glorious Constitution drafted by Dr Ambedkar, which they alleged is under threats of dilution.
All J&K Ambedkar Dalit Samaj Welfare Forum held a meeting to commemorate the 65th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr B R Ambedkar Sahib at Guru Ravi Dass Complex, Rajpura Jammu. While paying tributes to Baba Sahib, president Ashok Jogi and general secretary Romesh Angurana urged people to follow the teachings of Baba Sahib. Mohan Lal Bavoria, Ashok Langeh, Shankar Kumar, Rajesh Kumar and many others attended the meeting.
At Ravi Dass Sabha, Bagh-e-Bahu, people from all communities assembled and paid glowing tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar. They garlanded the portrait of Baba Sahib and recalled his contribution to the India and its people.
