JAMMU, July 23: On the seventh death anniversary of 2008 land row agitation martyr Kuldeep Verma, the State unit of BJP organized ‘Shradanjali Sabha’ at party headquarters, wherein havan was performed followed by garlanding of the portrait of Kuldeep Verma and paying of tributes to the martyr.
The party also remembered and paid tributes to over a dozen other people who attained the martyrdom during the said agitation.
This Shradanjali Sabha was held under BJP State vice president & Jammu West MLA Sat Sharma CA and attended by other Office bearers and senior leaders.
While paying tributes to Kuldeep Verma, Sat Sharma, said that it was due to the his sacrifice that 2008 land row agitation got a new turn and brought the people of entire Jammu province together irrespective of their caste and creed.
It was a historical agitation which displayed the unity of the people and the entire world witnessed the same with appreciation.
State vice-president, Usha Choudhary said that the women across the Jammu province participated in large numbers in this agitation to make it successful.
State general secretary Munish Sharma, while paying the tributes, regretted that despite seven years after agitation, the agreement reached between Sangarsh Samiti and the government has not been implemented in letter and spirit.
Shilpi Verma, the wife of Kuldeep Verma, recalled the entire drama being played by the police on the behest of some higher ups in the then government adding that even the dead body was dis-honoured and not allowed for last rites, which itself spoke the misconduct of the administration to further harass the already bereaved family.
She said that the true tribute on this day is to work for getting justice for the sufferers.
BJP leaders including Chander Mohan Sharma, Mohan Singh Chouhan, N.D. Rajwal, Balbir Ram Rattan, Naresh Dogra, Karan Singh, Rajinder Sharma, Subash Bhagat, Rachhpal Singh, Bhanu Partap Singh, Ayodhaya Gupta, Pradhuman Singh, Narayan Dutt, Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Raju Sharma Prem Gupta, Amit Sharma, Dinesh Gupta, Jagdish Pandey, Makson Tickoo, Lovkesh Gondi, Rahul Sharma, Himanshu Gupta, Deepak Gupta, Santosha Devi, Chander Shekhar, Bina Gupta, Dineshwar Sharma, K.N. Razdan, Puneet Mahajan, Balji Koul, T.N. Bhat and others also paid their tributes.
