Rich tributes paid to Missile Man Dr Kalam

JAMMU, July 28: Rich tributes were paid to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Former President of India popularly known as Missile Man. 84-year-old Kalam, who collapsed while delivering a lecture at IIM, Shillong, and died, was a daring President who undertook a submarine sortie, flew Sukhoi jet, visited Siachen glacier, world’s highest battlefield and interacted with troops at the Line of Control.
While paying tributes to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh disclosed a relatively lesser known fact that the sudden demise of Dr Kalam was also a loss to medical science because during the last few years, Dr Kalam had started showing diversified research interest in medical science particularly in the subject of ‘Carcinogens’ or Cancer related factors/agents.
If only Dr Kalam had lived a little longer, Dr Jitendra Singh said, it is possible that, given his record of innovative and progressive experimentation, he might have come out with some original postulations even in relation to medical science, particularly in the area of Oncology.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, it is no small achievement that during his science career of over six decades, Dr Kalam diversified from nuclear science to space science and in the later years also to medical science. For a country like India known for its diversity, Dr Kalam truly symbolised science in diversity, he added.
National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Working President Omar Abdullah expressed grief over the demise of Former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. Expressing their heartfelt condolences to Dr Kalam’s family, Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah said Dr Kalam’s demise has left a vacuum that would be very hard to fill.
Chairman, J&K Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali has expressed grief on the demise of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. He said nation has lost a great scientist and visionary whose contribution to the nation will always be remembered.
Speaker, Legislative Assembly and MLA Gandhi Nagar Constituency Kavinder Gupta has expressed profound sorrow over the demise of Dr Kalam in a meeting held at Gandhi Nagar. Terming Dr Kalam as great son of the soil, Speaker said his contribution towards strengthening defence and missile technology of the country will be remembered forever. Dr Kalam would always be remembered as ‘People’s President’, a literary legend and his writings will enlighten the nation for years to come. The meeting was attended by Jaideep Sharma, Vinay Gupta, Baldev Billoria, Tarsem Chowdhary, Satpal Chowdhary, Balwant singh, Ludramani Sharma, Surat Singh Charak, Pitamber Sharma, Ajay pargal, Er. Ashwani Khosla, Bharat Sharma, Ankush Gupta, District General Secretary BJP Jaideep Sharma, Mandal President, Tarsem Chowdhary and other prominent citizens of the constituency.

As mark of respect to Former President APJ Abdul Kalam, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today cancelled its foundation day function and organized a condolence meeting to pay tributes and homage to Dr Kalam. All senior leaders of the party were present in the meeting in which floral tributes were paid to the great soul. Former Minister and senior vice president of the party, Sardar Rafiq Hussain Khan threw light on the life of Dr Kalam. General secretary of the party Daman Bhasin, Former Minister, Sardar Rangil Singh, MLC Firdous Tak, former Rajya Sabha member, TS Bajwa, ex-MLC, Ved Mahajan, ex-MLA Shanti Devi, besides many others attended the programme.
To pay tributes to the departed soul of Bharat Ratna former President APJ Abdul Kalam, the BJP held a condolence meeting at party headquarters, wherein the party leaders paid their floral tributes. Chief spokesman Ravinder Sharma said that Dr Kalam was a visionary scientist who brought pride and honour to India in global space of science and technology.

They paid rich tributes to Dr Kalam and threw light his life.
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) workers of Udhampur held a meeting under the chairmanship of Hans Raj Kalotra, Senior leader PDP. In the meeting, the participants paid homage to Dr Kalam.
J&K National Panthers Party (NPP) in condolence meetings held in Jammu, Srinagar, Delhi and Chennai condoled the death of Dr Kalam. Prof Bhim Singh, Chief Patron, NPP said that Dr Kalam was a unique human being who had a mission to see India as one of the leading nations of the world by 2020. In Jammu, tributes were paid by the working committee of JKNPP under the chairmanship of Harshdev Singh, former Education Minister and Chairman. Balwant Singh Mankotia, Former MLA and President-JKNPP, PK Gajoo, besides many others were also present.
BJP State General Secretary and MLA Kathua Rajiv Jasrotia has condoled the sad demise of former president. Jasrotia said that Dr Kalam was a great scientist who contributed immensely in the field of science and technology as well as space.
Member Legislative Council (MLC) Rani Gargi Blowria also paid tributes to Dr Kalam. She said that Dr Kalam was a visionary scientist who brought pride and honour to India in global space of science and technology.
In a meeting held in High Court Jammu, rich tributes were paid to APJ Abdul Kalam. Senior Advocate DC Raina presided over the function, whereas HC Jalmeria, SC Gupta, KK Pangotra, Hafiz U Rehman, VB Gupta, BL Kalgotra, NA Choudhary and Roop Lal expressed their views on the life of Dr Kalam.
Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association has condoled the demise of Dr Kalam. While speaking, General Secretary of the Association RL Kaith said, “Mr Abdul Kalam was one of India’s most renowned rocket scientists. He spearheaded India’s missile development efforts. Dr Kalam also played a major role in the Pokhran-II test. Scientifically, he put India on the map”.
NCP held a meeting which was presided over by its J&K Chief and Former Minister Randhir Singh. The participants condoles the demise of Former President of India. While speaking, Randhir Singh threw light on the life of Dr Kalam.
The staff of Government Ayurvedic Hospital held a meeting and paid tributes to Former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
All India Students Federation (AISF), J&K Unit expressed its deep condolence on the demise of Dr Kalam popularly known as “Missile Man of India”. Mukesh Parihar, President AISF J&K termed his death a great loss to the nation.
The members of NGO Jiyo Aur Jeene Do held a condolence meeting and paid tributes to Former President of India. CEO Udhampur Bishan Singh, CPO J Tharmatt along with the staff of CEO Office Udhampur and the members of NGO including Ajay Rajput, Sanjay, Baldev and others paid floral tributes to Dr Kalam. President of the NGO Tariq Shah was also present on the occasion.
Katra Youth Circle paid homage to Dr Kalam. Dharun Kesar (DK), Puneet Badyal, Sourabh, Aanadit, Rahul, Sahil, Atul and Vishal paid floral tributes to Former President of India and also threw light on his life.

Senior Congress leader and Social Activist Ashraf Ali Sheikh has expressed grief over the demise of Former President of India. Paying tributes to India’s Missile Man, Ashraf Ali Sheikh said the nation has lost one of its true heroes and the void left behind by him will be difficult to fill.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Vinod K Gupta, President, Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha to express condolences on sad demise of Dr APJ Kalam, Former President of India. Chander Mohan Gupta, General Secretary, Amar Chand Gupta, Om Prakash Gupta and the office bearers of Marriage Bureau Satish Chander Gupta, Vijay Gupta, Pardeep Gupta, Jagdish Gupta were also present.
Shri Ram Sena (SRS) Jammu and Kashmir activists in a condolence meeting held here today, expressed sorrow over the demise of Former President of India. SRS activists prayed for peace to the departed soul of Kalam and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.  SRS State President, Rajiv Mahajan, Ajay Gupta, Deepak Slathia, Vijayant Pathania, Bal Krishan Arora, besides many others were present on the occasion.
JK Youth Sharnarthi Action Committee today expressed grief over the demise of Former President of India. JKYSAC President RC Sharma said that sad demise of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam has created a void in the world community, which is impossible to be filled.
Prof (Dr) Kuldeep Singh, President, Society Health Environment Education Research (SHEER) and associated members paid tributes to Dr Kalam.

To pay tributes to Former President Youth Congress today organised candle march at historical Mubarak Mandi complex. During the candle march, tributes were also paid to Dr Kalam and to those who lost their lives in Dinanagar terror attack. In deference to the wish of the Former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, University of Jammu functioned normally today and has also decided not to observe the holiday on August 8, being the week end off day in the Campus. The University shall function normally with all departments carrying out routine academic and other activities. It was also decided to screen a documentary based on the visits of Prof Kalam to the University of Jammu for the teachers, staff, scholars and students of the Varsity. The decision to this effect was taken at the condolence meeting, held under the chairmanship of Prof RD Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu. Prof Sharma highlighted the contributions of Dr Kalam in the scientific field and nation building. Vice Chancellor, Deans, Directors, Rectors observed two minutes silence and prayed for eternal peace to departed soul.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) fraternity expressed grief over the demise of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. In a condolence meeting held in the University campus, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Sudhir K Jain, Registrar, Deans, Directors, faculty members and staff members prayed for peace to the departed soul of Dr Kalam.

Scientists of SKUAST-J paid rich tributes to the departed soul who was a world renowned scientist and torch bearer for the scientific fraternity of the nation.

Students of Keshav Vidya Kender High School, Ramnagar organized a condolence ceremony and remembered Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. Renu Gupta, Rakesh Gupta, Kuldeep Kumar and Rattan Lal in their speeches threw light on the life of Dr Kalam.
Management, staff and students of Dewan Devi Playway/ Higher Secondary School Rajpura paid tributes to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam by lightning candles.
A condolence meeting was held in the Jai Hind Block of NITL Higher Secondary School to pay tributes to Former President of India. While speaking, Chairperson of Managing Committee Chander Mukhi said that country has lost a source of inspiration for the new generation.
The students of Lawrence Public School along with the Youth Wing of Gandhi Global Family paid rich tributes to the Dr Kalam. The students lit up candles as a mark of respect in front of the portrait and observed 2 minutes silence. Some students spoke about the great personality and remembered him as a true friend of children. Amit Varma, Youth Coordinator, Gandhi Global Family threw light on Dr Kalam’s life and described him as a teacher, motivator and a true gentleman.
RM Public School organized a special assembly and paid homage to Former President of India. Principal Ravinder Kour, Trustee Reeta Mengi and Principal of RM College also attend the assembly.
GS Accounts Institute has condoled the demise of Dr Kalam. Girish Sharma, Director of the Institute said “Today we lost the nation’s Missile Man, the source of nation’s youths’ energy, the nation’s simple-heart with beautiful mind and soul, who was an inspiration to nation’s youth”.
KP Sabha President KK Khosa also condoled the demise of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
