SRINAGAR, July 3: Security forces this morning launched a massive search operation in North Kashmir’s Bandipora village after inputs that militants are hiding in the area.
Army’s 13 Rashtriya Rifles, Special Operations Group (SOG) Bandipora, SOG Sumbal, SOG Hajin of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jointly launched searches in Mir Mohalla, Parray Mohalla, Khosa Mohalla and adjacent areas of Hajin area of Bandipora early today.

The operation was launched after the specific inputs about the presence of militants. All exit points and all roads were blocked in the area while massive searches are on. No one was allowed to enter or leave the area. Security forces conducted house to house searches against the militants.
The area has witnessed several civilian killings recently. Police blamed militants for these killings. However, they denied it.
Authorities suspended high speed Internet services in parts of Bandipora following the operation. The search operation in these areas is on. However, no contact was established.
In the meantime, an alert CRPF personnel foiled a rifle snatching bid by unidentified persons in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district today.
Three unidentified people attacked a CRPF man with chili powder and tried to snatch his service rifle at Humhama in Budgam. However, the CRPF man fought back and raised an alarm, following which the attackers escaped. Security forces rushed to the spot and search operation was launched to nab the attackers.
