Srinagar, Aug 7: Police today foiled a rifle snatching bid and arrested two youth from Tral Town of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The security forces including Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel were conducting frisking at Tral Town and two youth overpowered a cop, snatched his rifle and ran away.
The cops chased away the youth and managed to overpower one of them, Fayaz Ahmad Lone of Pastuna Tral. Fayaz was immediately taken into the custody and the rifle was also recovered from his possession. Another youth, however, managed to escape from the spot.
The troops later arrested the other youth, Suhail Ahmad Bhat of Hayina Tral. Suhail is the brother of a Hizbul Mujahideen militant, Aqib Ahmad Bhat.
They are being questioned and police have registered a case and investigations are on.
