JAMMU, Jan 13: After meeting with Advisor to Governor K K Sharma and Chief Secretary B V R Subramanhayam in Jammu, the affected farmers of Ring Road project Srinagar / Jammu joined hands together to press for their demands of payment of fair compensation to the affected farmers whose land is to be acquired for Ring Road projects in Jammu and Srinagar.
Representatives of Ring Road Jammu Kisaan Sangharsh Samiti and Semi Ring Road Land Owners Welfare Committee Kashmir met in Jammu on Saturday to chalk out the future strategy. They formed a united forum to push their demands
They apprised the Advisor to Governor about the difficulties they were facing due to land acquisition process in Kashmir valley and Jammu division. The joint committee of affected farmers formed a coordination committee having members from both the regions. The committee consists of G A Paul, Sarat Dubey, D P Sharma, Dr Raja Muzaffar, Balvinder Singh, Chaman Sharma, Harbans Singh, Haji Ghulam Hussain , Ghulam Ali, Sohbat Ali, Satpal Sharma, Ali Mohammad Wani and others.
The affected farmers said that if Central Law on land acquisition was not applicable in J&K, why is not state Government following its own law in letter and spirit?
“Private Negotiation (PNC) is a provision in J&K Land Acquisition Act1934 but Government and NHAI are not agreeing to private negotiation. We have raised this issue with Chief Secretary as well “ said GA Paul president of affected farmers in Kashmir.
“We have raised issues related to enactment of new land acquisition law in J&K with Governors Advisor K K Sharma for which process was already started by former Governor N N Vohra and advisor Khurshid Ahmad Ganai. The issue of very low stamp duty rates in Jammu district was also discussed, threadbare plus grant of compensation to those people who were cultivating Custodian land in R S Pura , Marh and Bhalwal tehsils. We have sought appointment with Governor and there is no response from Raj Bhavan,” said Sarat Dubey affected farmer from Prithipur Jammu.
