Rinpoche reflects on dreadful effects of alcohol on 1st day of teachings

LEH (LADAKH), June 30: The 41st Sakya Trizin Rinpoche essentially reflected on the dreadful effects of alcohol on the first day of the three days teaching at Jeway Tsas, Choglamsar today.
Expressing happiness over the cordial communal harmony of Ladakh, HH Sakya Rinpoche expressed gratitude to all the religious personalities for according warm welcome to him on his arrival to Leh.
Sakya Rinpoche today gave the preliminary teachings on Drogon Chogyal Phagspa’s letter of advice to Prince Jibig Temur of Mongolia called ‘A Rossary of Gemstones’ – Norbui Trangwa to thousands of devotees who thronged the lush green lawn of Jeway Tsas to listen to his noble teaching.
Talking about the importance of following a disciplined life written in the letter, Sakya Rinpoche talked about the importance of understanding the poisonous nature of alcohol and its effect on one’s health, rational thinking, and decision making ability. He further advised the gathering of thousands of followers to not to fall in the dangerous trap of alcohol. Sakya Rinpoche also taught about the universal fact of impermanence, love and care to our parents, of practising love and compassion for the benefit of all sentient beings.
Later Sakya Rinpoche gave the initiation on the preparation of ‘the empowerment of three Buddha families’ – Avalokiteshwara, Manjushri and Vajrapani – Rigsum Chiyi Wang which requires one to think of attaining buddhahood / enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings. Tomorrow morning the main teaching on ‘the empowerment of Three Buddha Families’ – Avalokiteshwara, Manjushri and Vajrapani – Rigsum Chiyi wang will be given by Sakya Rinpoche.
