JAMMU, Nov 21: The two- day international conference on “Research and Innovations in Science, Engineering and Technology: RISET 2015”, the first of its kind in J&K, concluded today at Yogananda College of Engineering & Technology (YCET) Jammu.
Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, was chief guest in the valedictory function while Jai Kumar Sharma (Director CDC), Dr Meenakshi Kilam ( Director DIQA, JU) and Sanjeev Mahajan (Controller of Examination, JU), were the guests of honour.
Prof Ashok Aima highlighted the role of emerging technologies in shaping the destiny of the humankind and bring quality changes. He called for greater thrust in research and scientific endeavours and create industry institute partnership for sustainable and growth oriented society.
Prof Aima deliberated on the key issues and challenges which need to be surmounted in the field of scientific advancement. Quoting Vedic scriptures, Prof Aima reiterated that it is high time young students must light the lamp of knowledge and explore new scientific opportunities to create a better world.
Dr Meenakshi Kilam stressed the need for innovations and research in technology.
The advisory committee of the international conference RISET: 2015 involved academia and the industries and comprised of eminent scientists, researchers from India and abroad. Key note speakers and resource persons included veterans like Prof A K Koul, Dean Academics, DGBSU, Rajouri; Prof R K Bhattacharya, IIT Guwahati; Dr Venu Chandra, IIT, Chennai; Er Sanjeev Anand, Director, School of Energy Management, SMVDU, Katra; Dr Murari Gupta, Director, Research KL Univ. Rajasthan; Prof Dev Anand, Head Deptt of Computer Science and Information Technology, Central University, Jammu and K R Suri, former GM Power Grid.
The technical sessions were chaired by Dr Sanjeev Gupta, Dr Sarabjeet Singh, Dr Subhas Dubey, Dr Bhopinder Singh and Dr Simmi Dutta, Professors in GCET.
Er Vidhi S Singh, Chairman, JGEI, Th Shiv Dev Singh Jamwal, Vice Chairman, JGEI, and Er Renu Bangroo, Managing Director, JGEI, and Dr Seema Narain, Convener, presented mementoes to the chief guest, and the guests of honour.
A K Kaul, TPO, YCET, presented the vote of thanks.
