Ritu flays JMC’s Social Justice Committee for poor performance

JAMMU, June 26: Corporator Ritu Choudhary has criticised Social Justice Committee of the JMC for its poor performance.
Talking to the media-persons here today, Corporator Ritu said that Social Justice Standing Committee was formed almost three years ago for the welfare of public in Jammu. But its dissmal performance has exposed the working style of such committees.
Ritu, who is Corporator from Ward No. 7, further said that today i.e. June 26, 2021, 9th meeting of the Social Justice Standing Committee JMC was held at JMC complex , regarding various issues of Jammu City. Since the committee has held about nine meetings till date but the question is, on how many issues JMC and J&K administration took effective action. How many problems were solved?
“If administration is not committed to attend the meetings and officials don’t show any intentions to hear the  issues raised by the Corporators, then what’s the motive to set up such a committee and hold committee meetings,” she asked.
The Corporator pointed out that there is lack of presentation instead of prior notice given to all the responsible members of committee. Various demands like sewing machines for widows, school bags and fans for needy people were put forth by Corporators during the past meetings but it’s very shameful that even after the passing of such a long time, till now, no action has been taken. People who have filled their forms are still waiting for any assistance.
Corporator Choudhary further added that  if committee has to work in such a manner then we must reconsider why the committee was formed and if it’s not bound to work effectively in the interest of the public and then it should be dissolved. Such committees framed by JMC are mere eye-wash.
Choudhary strongly urged the administration to take the issues discussed sincerely and make sure that if the committee has been formed, then it should work effectively.
