JAMMU, Dec 2: On the eve of World Disability Day, granddaughter-in-law of Maharaja Hari Singh, Ritu Singh organized a function at Hari Niwas, here today and hosted hundreds of guests including persons with disabilities from all over India.
The function was organized this evening in collaboration with Chairman of Women Club ‘Meri Pehchaan’, Sandhya Gupta. Around 75 people from pan India participated in the function during which a number of cultural activities including ‘bhakti’ songs were presented by the children with special abilities. A dinner was also organized for all the guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Ritu Singh said that her grandfather Maharaja Hari Singh was a great ruler, who always worked for empowering weaker sections. She said that getting inspiration from her grandfather, she also wanted to work for the empowerment of the poor and downtrodden and that is why she uses to do one or other thing for the society.
Ritu Singh emphasized that all stakeholders in the society need to contribute towards the well being of persons with disabilities. She highlighted challenges and issues encountered by persons with disabilities and stressed on the need of continual commitment of the civil society towards persons with disabilities.
