RKJ organises music concert ‘Raag Darbaar’

JAMMU, Sept 19: Radio Kashmir Jammu (RKJ) here today organised a programme of classical music concert under the name ‘Raag Darbaar’ at Government College for Women, Parade.
The event featured performances of renowned national and local artists. The audience was left spellbound as the renowned Flutist and senior disciple of the legendry Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Santosh Sant along with Naveen Sharma (Vocal) and Mayank Raina (Sitar) displayed their talent in the concert that lasted for two hours.

The concert was inaugurated by lighting of ceremonial lamp which was followed by welcome address by the Programme Head of RKJ, Renu Raina.
The event began with a patriotic chorus paying obeisance to the motherland followed by an impressive performance on Sitar by Mayank Raina.
Naveen Sharma’s fascinating vocal performance then came up with Bada Khayal and Chhota Khayal with bandish – “Balma na jani preet ki reet…” and “Mori laaj rakho Girdhari…” respectively.
The vote of thanks was delivered by K.K Lidhoo, Programme Executive while the proceedings were conducted by Raj Kumar Sharma.
The whole event was co-ordinated by Rajesh Gupta, Programme Executive and the compositions were managed by Sami Feroz, Staff Artist who also accompanied the instrumentalists with his brilliant Tabla performance.
Other accompanists included Purshotam Kumar (Tabla) and Gauri Shankar (Harmonium).
