JAMMU, Apr 17: Hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits converged at “YarBal-Akh Utsav-2023 held at Muthi here, today. Organised by Rainawari Kashmiri Pandit Action Committee (RKPAC), it was a comprehensive socio-cultural event having different segments depicting the rich religious, spiritual and cultural aesthetics and place consciousness of Rainawari KPs.
A large number of Pandits from the area scattered all over India and the Globe assembled and pledged to reclaim their cultural moorings in Kashmir.
Giving a comprehensive outline about the agenda and on ground work of the RKPAC, its president Bushan Lal Jalali, said” this organization is working continuously on ground to retrieve the temples, religious places and educational institutions of Rainawari from the encroachers who are working as a mafia with land sharks in Kashmir to grab the Kashmiri Pandit properties.
RKPAC demanded retrieval of Kashmiri Pandit temples, their property and educational institutions, cremation grounds from the encroachers. In this connection RKPAC has already submitted memorandum to the concerned authorities. It said that any Committee or Tribunal is incomplete without the inclusion of RKPAC as KPS of Rainawari constitute the major percentage of Kashmiri Pandits in Srinagar.
Jalali paid glowing tributes to stalwarts of Rainawari who took part in various socio-cultural movements from time to time.
On the occasion, Amar Balidan Pt Hriday Nath Mattoo Samman was awarded to Pt. Keshav Bhat Shastri (Jyotshi), Pt Sham Lal Tickoo (Saraf), Pt.Shree Dhar Koul Dulloo, Pt.Prem Nath Bhat, Pt.Upinder Krishen Bhat.
A colourful cultural program was presented by the students of Matamaal-The Satchel presenting various Sanskrit Kashmiri Pandit cultural items. B.L. Zutshi spoke on the historical perspective of Rainawari. Programme co-ordnators were, Ravi Mahaldar, Beboo Ji Zutshi, Krishen Bhat, Ramesh Hangloo. Audio visuals and technical operations were coordinated by Sakshini Hangloo.
