JAMMU, Aug 25: Railways Minister Piyush Goyal has ordered that Mata Vaishno Devi-Rishikesh train will carry six more bogies from now onwards to increase more people intending to visit Haridwar.
Goyal gave this assurance to Jammu Yatri Trust (JYT) Haridwar chairman Pawan Shastri when he called on the Railways Minister today.
After examining the proposal put forth by Shastri, Goyal agreed to it. However, since Mata Vaishno Devi and Rishikesh Railway Stations were congested, Goyal announced that six additional bogies to the train will be attached from Jammu and detached at Haridwar.
New bogies will carry at least 400 additional passengers daily from Jammu to Haridwar and vice versa.
On the proposal of converting weekly Jammu-Haridwar train to daily, Goyal said the proposal will be examined shortly.
Presently, Jammu-Haridwar train plies once a week on Sunday (Jammu-Haridwar) and returns the next day i.e. Monday.
Shastri also made some other demands before the Railways Minister pertaining to movement of the people from Jammu to Haridwar.
