BHADERWAH, Mar 30: Locals in Bhaderwah led by community leader, Manoj Padha today staged a protest demonstration against J&K Government, local MLA Daleep Singh and the Roads & Buildings (R&B) Department.
The protesters were demanding immediate halt to the construction work of the road leading to Kailash Kund—a sacred site for ‘Naag’ followers across the globe.
The protest saw participation of hundreds of locals who expressed deep concern over the proposed infrastructure project.
Manoj Padha, while addressing the gathering, accused MLA Daleep Singh of collaborating with mining mafia to push forward the road construction project that threatens to destroy the centuries-old Naag culture.
He further alleged that the project was not only an attack on the cultural and religious significance of Kailash Kund but was also aimed at facilitating illegal mining activities at Mount Kailash, a place of immense spiritual importance.
Holding placards and chanting slogans in support of their demands, the protestors demanded that the Government should immediately stop the construction work.
They gave a week time to the concerned authorities for stopping the work and said that otherwise the protest will continue, and will escalated leading to law and order problem not only in Bhaderwah but in other States also.
