JAMMU, Apr 4: The road stretch near old migrant camp Muthi outside recently constructed Jammu Development Authority (JDA) flats has virtually turned into a death trap with huge potholes, but the authorities are unmoved and waiting for a unfortunate incident to take place.
Huge potholes have slowed down vehicular movement and with rain, have made it difficult to distinguish where the road existed and where the small to big potholes were.
At many portions there were huge potholes and road portion too has been appearing like being chopped away to make way for ditches.
The stretch continues to be dangerous for vehicle drivers. Some of the small potholes have widened at several places due to rain that is giving a nightmare of sorts especially to two-wheeler drivers.
The road is so damaged that driving on it is a bad experience, an official working in the Directorate of School Education office said on the condition of anonymity.
The residents are expressing their anguish over the poor maintenance of road by the authorities. Potholes on the roads are creating panic among the motorists. Instead of repeated reminders, the officials of the respective departments have not been taking any action to fill up the pits and potholes, the residents said.
Many road accidents are taking place because of the potholes in the middle of the roads. The concerned departments have expressed complete ignorance about the bad conditions of the road.
Other motorists said that the concerned authorities should immediately repair the road before any unfortunate incident took place.
