RAJOURI, Dec 19: At least four roads black- topped by the R&B Department in Kalakote and Nowshera area have started damaging just within 15-20 days of executing this work.
The people from Kalakote area told the Excelsior that the road from Sailsui to Soulki, another road from from Barmandal to Broh, Tatapani to Barmandal and Barmandal to Soom started damaging within 20 days of the completion of work. Moreover, Siot -Kalakote road which was maintained by the R&B Nowshera, a few months ago has suffered massive damages all over.
They alleged that highly sub-stranded work has been performed by the PMGSY and R&B Divisions concerned and the public has demanded high level inquiry. Members of several Panch-ayats of the area also alleged that public money worth crores was spent on these roads but funds have been simply drained by the concerned engineers in connivance with the contractors.
They said it was wrong to initiate black-topping work during cold weather. Moreover, the senior engineers failed to properly monitor the quality of work and take decision in this regard. Action should also be taken against them, they demanded.
Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri Nazir Ahmed Sheikh when informed about the matter, said that he would initiate an inquiry into the matter. The DC said the time bound probe will be held and responsibility would be fixed on the people responsible for it.
