Robbery at gun point in Jammu

JAMMU, Feb 8: In a Bollywood style, a gun wielding man intruded in the house of Supreme Court  advocate, a prominent Urdu writer and poet, S S Lehar at his Maheshpura residence last night and decamped with gold ornaments worn by his wife and Rs two lakh in cash at gun point from the house.
Police said a gun wielding man wearing a head gear intruded into the house of Mr Lehar last night when the advocate was busy along with his clients and juniors in his office chamber situated in the second storey of his house and decamped with golden ornaments worn by his wife and Rs two lakh in cash at gun point.
Mr Lehar told Excelsior that his wife was sitting alone in the house at the time of incident as the servant and his son were not present there. He said first the robber asked his wife to handover him the golden bangles round arms and later the two rings and golden chain worn by her. He took her to another room at gun point and decamped with over Rs one lakh in cash.  “Rs one lakh was taken from bank as loan by me recently and it was also kept in the room,” he added.
He said his wife could not raise any alarm as the intruder warned that he will fire at her.
He said a team headed by SDPO and SHO Bakshi Nagar Inspector Dalip Singh rushed to his residence soon and assured that police will swing into action to nab the robber.
The Bakshi Nagar police has registered a case and launched a man hunt to nab the dacoit. The SHO Bakshi Nagar said that Police is on the job and the robber will be arrested soon.
He said it is the second incident in Jammu and 20 days earlier same kind of incident took place at Suvidha Clinic Talab Tillo where a robber decamped with cash on gun point.
In another incident yesterday two motorcycle borne youth snatched a purse from a lady who was on her way to her home from Janipur on a scooter along with her husband near Mian Dido Chowk.
The duo fled in a friction of time. According to Naveen Sharma husband of the lady, he tried to chase the youth up to Manda but they were in fast speed and disappeared at a curve.
He has registered a FIR in Police Post Rehari and police has registered a case under Section 382 RPC. But no arrest has been made so far.
The bag contained Rs 13,000 in cash, ATM Cards of J&K Bank and PNB, Driving license, PAN Cards, voter cards, all other membership cards and one gold locket of Lord Shiva.
Naveen has appealed the people that if they have any clue about these youth they should inform the police.
