Robbery bid in JK Bank branch in Mendhar

JAMMU, Nov 13: Unknown robbers made unsuccessful attempt to loot cash from the Dhar Galoon branch of JK Bank in Mendhar area of district Poonch last night.
Police sources said that some unknown robbers managed to break the main shutter of the bank to make their entry and worked hard to break the chest containing huge cash. They had cut the shutters apparently by using gas. They ransacked the bank files, furniture and computers. Some computers had been thrown down.
This bank branch is located on main Bhimber Gali-Mandher road. The dogs were barking loudly in the area when the burglars were inside. Some people became suspicious and sensing trouble the burglars managed to flee in a vehicle they had brought with them. The people informed Gursai Police Station about the matter during early hours and later also contacted the Bank staff.
Police party led by SDPO Mendhar, Shahid Nahim and SHO Gursai reached the spot. Dog squad was also summoned and they started investigation. The banks staff claimed that some record was also missing from the branch. The police suspects hand of an insider in the case. The SDPO said that FIR has been registered at Police Station Gursai and further investigation was on. It was second attempt in this bank branch. Hardly, three months back similar attempt had been made by the robbers but they failed to break the chest.
