SRINAGAR, June 10: Senior leader of People’s Conference (PC) and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil has urged the Governor GC Murmu led administration to immediately revoke SRO- 202 to end discrimination and bring parity among Government employees of Jammu Kashmir without any further delay terming it both anti- youth and anti- employees.
In a press statement issued today Vakil said the issue is lingering on for years. This SRO should be rolled back now without any delay as it is against the basic spirit of job policy. Terming it against the spirit of Government job, Vakil said under SRO- 202, the appointees have to necessarily work for a period of 5 years on the post against which he or she has been appointed and such appointee will not be eligible for transfer for whatsoever reason during the temporary service of 5 years.
This SRO was implemented by then PDP – BJP Government on June 30, 2015 and has been facing opposition from both Government employees as well as educated youth since then. A huge chunk of unemployed educated youth are aggrieved and agitated over the SRO 202, Vakil said.
He said SRO- 202 has demoralised the concerned employees appointed under the provision. A large number of employees, who have been appointed in different Government departments since 2015 were facing injustice and huge parity in salaries. Keeping in view the principle of equal pay for equal work, the Government must do away with this SRO as soon as possible, Vakil demanded.
The said this SRO is not only frustrating the employees, appointed under this SRO but also frustrated the unemployed youth of J&K who feel discouraged to apply for any job that provides a meagre salary.
Describing SRO- 202 as unconstitutional and anti- youth, he said it also amounted to grave injustice besides violation of principle of “equal pay for equal work.”
Vakil urged the administration led by Lt Governor to withdraw SRO- 202 fourth with and modify new rules without any delay.
