Has the Roshni Act decreased the darkness? This refers to the news item “State land sold for peanuts under Roshni” carried by the D.E. dated 28th May. Going by the title of the scheme aam aadmi must have thought that the Roshni scheme/Act get devised by the Govt. to erase the darkness which had engulfed the helpless poor common of the State including refugees,who have no land to cultivate or raise shelter thereon, even after sixty five years of the self rule but this news item speaks of some different story. The Roshni Act, the Flood Lights Act or even the Sun Beams Act, if at all enacted by any Govt. anywhere in our subcontinent of extremities will hardly consider the deprived, “have nots” co-shares of this nation state, as equally good claimants of the national assets even during the decades to come.
The grave imbalance in our badly wounded system has been presented by an urdu poet in the words:-
Chand gharano pe ikram tere ye ai khudaya
Bat to jali hai jo rehmet teri ghar ghar barse
