JAMMU, Feb 13: A team of delegates of Rotarians Jane Dark, Dr Steve Malo, Jim Dawson, Marjorie Dawson, John Wallace and Dr Alan Plater from Norfolk Sunrise Rotary Club, Simcoe, Ontario, Canada visited Rotary Hospital Udhampur.
They interacted with the members of Rotary Club, Udhampur as well as doctors and staff of Rotary Eye Hospital, Udhampur including staff of OEU. They inspected OT, Vision room, diagnosis room of the Hospital and interacted with patients. They also analyzed the achievement of the Community Eye Health Project of the ‘Operation Eyesight Universal’ jointly undertaken by Rotary Foundation and Hospital.
The main function was held in Rotary Eye & ENT Hospital Udhampur which was attended by all members of Rotary Club Udhampur besides eminent citizens of Udhampur town.
During the function, Anup Zimba and Gulzar Ahmed Khan threw light on the significance of the Hospital based Community Eye Health Project. They informed that the main objective of the Project is to restore the vision of poor people suffering with cataract and preventable blindness. “Till date we have screened more than 2000 patients suffering with Cataract and preventable blindness”, they said.
Many Asha workers were given training on immunization schedule and cataract screening during the function. Members of Rotary Club who attended the function included DN Sharma, Rajendra Sanson, VS Raja, Manjeet Singh, SS Kerni, Kamal Gupta, Col Hargovind Singh, Jasbir Singh and Gandharb Singh.
