JAMMU, May 8: Rotary Club of Jammu City installed garbage bins stations at 4 locations in Jammu City.
These garbage bins stations were dedicated to the people by former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta. Speaking on the occasion, Kavinder Gupta said that Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is the most significant campaign by the Government of India, leading the mass movement for cleanliness. He exhorted people to fulfill Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a clean and hygienic India.
Lauding the efforts of Rotary Club of Jammu City in taking lead in this mission of national significance, Kavinder said that the Rotary Club has undertaken several such projects in the past too and has always been at the forefront of taking up causes fulfilling their social responsibility.
Giving background of the project, Sandeep Beri, secretary, Rotary Club of Jammu City said that it has been a long standing dream of their Club to provide separate garbage bins for biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste so that the collection and recycling of waste material becomes easy. Four garbage bin stations, containing eight large Bins, have been installed in Trikuta Nagar area at 4 different locations from Railway Station up to Chhanni Himmat crossing along the Canal, he said.
KB Magotra, president of the Club, said their Club was dedicated to taking up such socially significant issues and will continue to work with zeal and enthusiasm towards ameliorating the sufferings of the people belonging to economically weaker section and causes that are socially relevant.
Other office bearers of Rotary Club present on the occasion were Adeep Mehta, Ravinder Kaul, JD Singh and Sandeep Bhat.
