JAMMU, Nov 18: Rotary Club of Jammu has organized a free retina check up camp for diabetic patients and other retinal disorders at Sachdeva Netralaya, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
The camp was organized in collaboration with Sachdeva Netralaya under the banner of “Gift of Sight. MLA Devender Singh Rana, Provincial President of National Conference, inaugurated the camp.
Dr Sanjay Sachdeva, MD, Sachdeva Netralaya and Director of the Project, informed that more than two hundred patients were examined and screened up by Dr Sunil Mehra, Vitreous Retinal Surgeon from Amritsar and his team during the camp. More than ten patients were selected for treatment free of cost.
Aim of the camp was to aware the diabetic patients that retina damage in diabetes can lead to blindness and the regular check up is very much important
Speaking on this important initiative, Sunil Kumar Sawhney, president, Rotary Club of Jammu, said, “Rotary Club of Jammu is committed towards inclusive and sustainable medical camps. Under the aegis of Sachdeva Netralaya and Rotary Eye Bank, Hoshiarpur, we use a holistic model of eye treatments and undertake a number of activities in larger interest of the community, especially the under privileged ones in the area of health, education, women empowerment and childcare apart from other signature projects of Rotary International District 3070.”
With this camp, “Gift of Sight” will be a permanent project of the club and many more such camps will be organized in far flung areas of Jammu and Kashmir, said Dr Anil Amla.
