JAMMU, Oct 29: Rotary Club Jammu Tawi observed World Polio Day by organizing an event at GCW Parade College, Jammu, here today.
Distinguished speakers, eminent doctors, Rotarians and Polio Warriors gathered to raise awareness and honor those at the forefront of the battle against polio.
Director Health, Rajiv K Sharma graced the occasion as the chief guest, emphasizing the significance of eradicating polio from world. Principal GCW Parade College, Dr S P Saraswat was the guest of honor, acknowledging the role of educational institutions in spreading awareness and fostering change. Dr Dushyant Chaudhary, a past District Governor of Rotary, also lent his wisdom as a special guest.
The day served as a poignant reminder of the ongoing struggle against polio, a disease that has plagued the world for far too long.
President Ramnik Singh, in his welcome speech, underscored Rotary’s substantial contributions to the fight against polio. Dr Dushyant Chaudhary, in a comprehensive address, illuminated Rotary’s remarkable work in this arena.
On the occasion, Rotary Club Jammu Tawi honoured a group of remarkable individuals who have been at the forefront of the war against polio. The Polio Warriors, who were recognized for their outstanding contributions, were: Dr Ila Gupta, Incharge Medical Officer, UPHC Shastri Nagar; Arti Choudhary, JSN, UPHC Shastri Nagar; Shivani Dogra, JSN, UPHC Shastri Nagar; Rekha Rani, FMPHW, NHM, NTPHC, Phallian Block, Sohanjana; Sanmati Lagotra, UPHC Mubarak Mandi; Baby Devi, UPHC Janipur.
The entire program was compeered by Prof Shivani Manchanda. Other notable Rotarians present there, included: Balwinder Singh, Ashok Sharma, Dr Parvee Singh, Jatinder Gandogkh, Prof Ranjeet Singh Jamwal and Prof Sandhya Bhardwaj.
