JAMMU, Sept 12: Farooq Khan, the newly appointed Administrator, Union Territory of Lakshadweep was accorded a rousing traditional reception at Capital Island Kavaratti.
On his arrival at Helibase, J.Ashok Kumar, Collector and Development Commissioner and Dr. Tariq Thomas Secretary (Health) received the Administrator by presenting bouquet.
The India Reserve Battalion presented Guard of Honour and the artists of Lakshadweep Kala Academy welcomed the Administrator with traditional dance form “Parichakkali”.
Farooq Khan is the 34th Administrator of the Union Territory of Lakshadweep.
Panchayathiraj functionaries, Heads of the Department, all political party leaders like BJP, INC, NCP and CPI etc. were present at Helibase to receive the new Administrator.
Earlier Administrator Farooq Khan accorded a warm reception at Agatti Airport on his arrival from Kochi. A.Kunhi Koya Thangal, President cum Chief Counselor, District Panchayat, Dr.K.P.Hamza Koya, Deputy Collector, Mohammed Naseer, Chairperson, Village Dweep Panchayat, I. Shridhar, Airport Director, all political party leaders and prominent citizens of the island were present to receive the Administrator.
