Udhampur, Mar 9: ARTO Udhampur Jugal Sharma on the directions of higher authorities suspended Route Permits and Registration Certificates of 53 vehicles which were found to be repeatedly involved in the smuggling of bovine animals.
The action was taken on the basis of communications and recommendations received from SSP Ramban in the matter.
Initially the notices were served to all the vehicle owners and no satisfactory response was received from their part.In view of the magnitude of offence and non- seriousness on part of owner of the vehicle,the Route Permits and Registration Certificates of the vehicles involved have been suspended for a period of 3 months.
Apart from this, checking drive was conducted and violators driving without license and seat belts were booked.
Notices have also been issued and served to the violators for suspension of driving licenses.Moreover routine checking drive along with the traffic police department is being carried out on day today basis to curb the menace of overloading ,overcharging as well as violation of route permits on the routes from where major complaints have been received.
A total fine of 62,25,665 has been realised in year 2022-2023 upto February from the violators and vehicles have been seized also.
