Route Permits, RCs of 91 vehicles suspended for violations

KISHTWAR, July 4: Regional Transport Authority (Member Secretary), ARTO Kishtwar guided by the Chairman, District Road Safety Committee Kishtwar/ Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav here today launched a major crackdown against those involved in illegal trade of bovine smuggling and other traffic violations within the district.
Acting on the recommendations from IGP Traffic Police and Transport Commissioner, Jammu, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Member Secretary) ARTO Kishtwar, Mohd Saleem Manhas suspended the Registration Certificates (RCs) and Route Permits of 91 vehicles which included 66 vehicles involved in habitual traffic violation and 25 involved in illegal transportation of bovine animals during the last three months under various relevant sections of law.
Saleem Manhas stated that during the past three months multiple FIRs were registered during major crackdown in the district and the intensified efforts of Motor Vehicle Department is designed to disrupt the logistics of smuggling operations making it increasingly difficult for the smugglers to transport livestock illegally besides the drive aims to enforce traffic rules and regulations, prevent accidents and ensure a safe and secure environment for all road users.
It is pertinent to mention here that during the period from April 1 to June 30, 2024, MVD Kishtwar challaned 1,267 vehicles for various offenses and fined the violators of Rs. 10.72 lakh.
Chairman Road Safety Committee has issued a stern warning to all the bovine smugglers and vehicle owners whose vehicles have been used for bovine smuggling or violating Traffic rules to desist from the wrong practice else strict action shall be taken against them including cancellation of documents of their vehicles.
