LEH, Sept 26: Royal Enfield and Wildlife Conservation and Birds Club of Ladakh (WCBCL) jointly organized motorcycle rally-cum-cleaning drive on the theme “Leave Every Place Better through Responsible Travel”.
Royal Enfield enthusiasts across the world have come together every year to mark 26th September as “One Ride” with their motorcycles. For the first time this year, One Ride was observed in Leh as well.
The ride begun at the Venture Third Pole, Housing Colony wherein LAHDC Leh Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) Tashi Gyalson was present as the chief guest.
The ride was flagged of at Venture Third Pole by Tsewang Dolma, Program Manager, Eicher Group Foundation, the CSR arm of Royal Enfield and Lobzang Visuddha, President WCBCL. The ride was led by the CEC in which 17 Royal Enfield riders participated.
In 2021, a world greatly changed, a world that needs each one of us to be more mindful, the ride was clubbed with a social mission to “Leave Every Place Better through Responsible Travel”. This time, the riders took the road from Leh to Upshi and initiated a cleanliness drive with the help of members of WCBCL and the shopkeepers of Upshi.
They have cleaned the area around the Indus River, and collected 30 bags of segregated trash. The trash was then taken to the Tsangda Center at Kharu for further processing.
