RPC delegation calls on CM

RAJOURI, Apr 25: Rajouri Press Council deputation under the leadership of its President Avinash Jasyal met Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and demanded Press Club for Rajouri.
The deputation apprised Chief Minister about the problems being faced by journalists of the area while performing their professional duties. The RPC members demanded that Press Club be opened in the Rajouri for media persons.
The members also raised the issue of the difficulties being faced by the journalists to cover high profile people when they are not being allowed to move freely like other journalists of the country. They said that if Chief Minister or any other senior functionary visits Rajouri or any other border area, the security forces and police always restrict them which is an attack on the free movement of Press.
Responding to the deputation, Chief Minister assured that their demand of Press Club will be considered. He also assured that media persons that not be stopped to perform professional duty during any high profile tour.
